Dudley Water Board OKs Water Main Closeout
Municipal Authority · Meeting of August 5, 2026
Dudley water board flags PFAS reading near fire station, $66,000 budget gap. The Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners voted unanimously to close out a completed water main project and pressed staff after Webster sewer testing found an unusually high PFAS reading in a long-abandoned manhole at the Dudley fire station, one commissioner asking, "is that the source of our PFAS at our well?" Commissioners said the town withdrew $8,000 more than budgeted in indirect costs and left the department $66,000 short on a separate water main article after budgeting $1,043,000 and paying $1,109,000. Resident Conrad Allen asked the board how to extend the water main down Candace Lane for a planned three-lot subdivision.
The board also learned Dudley was awarded a $4.5 million culvert repair grant and a $1 million PFAS mitigation grant tied to the department's Eagle Drive project.
