Dudley Water Board Disputes Union Job Description
Municipal Authority · Meeting of August 18, 2026
Dudley water board clashes over a contested union job description as its office manager prepares to leave. The Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners argued Tuesday that the town placed its administrative assistant position into a new bargaining unit without the department's input, producing a draft description that reports to the town administrator instead of the water and sewer superintendent. One commissioner said, "If I was asked to post a position today, I would not vote to put this one out there." The board agreed to seek outside labor and environmental counsel beyond town counsel KP Law, naming attorney Brian Mazur as a possible option.
Commissioners also reviewed new contamination readings near an old fire station structure close to town wells and agreed to demand proof it has been disconnected from the sewer system before the board lost its quorum and adjourned.
