Dudley sewer board raises rates 2%, adds usage tier

Municipal Authority · Meeting of April 8, 2026

Dudley's Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners voted unanimously to freeze water rates and raise sewer rates 2 percent for fiscal 2027, adding a new tier for high-volume users. The increase, approved after a sparsely attended public hearing, also raises the sewer flat rate to $1,300 per quarter for the roughly eight customers without meters. Officials said rising costs to treat wastewater at the Webster plant, projected to climb about $260,000 to $1.2 million next year, are driving the change.

Resident Mary Palazzo, the hearing's lone speaker, was told a typical household would see about a $20 annual increase. Board members separately said the treatment plant's PFAS filtration system has reached "breakthrough" on its first carbon vessel and will need to switch to its second soon, and tabled a proposed hydrant flow test deposit fee for further review.
