Trustees approve minutes, hear staffing update

Library Board · Meeting of May 12, 2026

Dudley library trustees hear staff praised for holding service steady through a month-long staffing gap. Library Director Nicole reported the library lost just four hours of public service a week despite going without a full-time and part-time employee for nearly all of April, and said new hire Karen Thompson has joined part-time circulation staff. Trustees learned the library received a Janet Malzer grant to fund a children's room project named the Crawford Curiosity Center, while the nonprofit Local for Life won a separate full Malzer grant for a pollinator garden planned for this summer.

April library traffic totaled 4,400 visits, down 4 percent year over year, partly because the Friends book sale moved from April to June. The board approved its April 14 minutes and adjourned unanimously, with no other formal votes taken.
