Dudley's Government Study Committee took public comment on a year's worth of proposed government changes, with no votes yet taken. Resident John Breyer told the panel the Board of Selectmen never formally adopted the town's economic development or master plans and argued the state has shorted the Dudley-Charlton Regional School District by roughly $94 million in state aid since 2015, including $7 million this year alone. Water Sewer Commission member Scott Sikowski said year-end budget detail is technically public but "darn near impossible" to find on the town website, and gave an update on the PFAS treatment plant that came online in 2024.
Former Planning Board chair Steve Watrova argued appointed positions carry more accountability than elected ones and noted Dudley has no zoning district allowing new self-storage facilities. The committee plans to begin voting on recommendations at its June 1 meeting, aiming to report to the Board of Selectmen by July 1 or 15.
