Dudley Water Board Approves ADU Hookup

Other Committee · Meeting of May 6, 2026

Dudley water board approves ADU hookup, presses pause on Eagle Drive extension questions. The Board of Water and Sewer Commissioners voted unanimously to connect a new accessory dwelling unit on Conant Avenue to existing water and sewer lines, adding an $1,800 sewer fee for the extra bedroom under Massachusetts ADU rules requiring the unit tie into the primary home's service lines. Resident Dave Durkin pushed commissioners on the stalled Eagle Drive water-main project, saying the state Department of Environmental Protection told him construction is "not starting for another 18 months"; officials confirmed design work continues and a temporary land taking on the route expired May 7.

The board also debated pairing a proposed $300 hydrant flow test fee with a $200 refundable deposit before tabling the idea to June, then closed by voting 4-0 to enter executive session over real estate talks tied to Eagle Drive, Fairview Avenue and Joseph Street.
