Dudley Selectmen Suspend Store's Liquor License
Other Committee · Meeting of September 21, 2026
Dudley selectmen split 4-1 to suspend Patriot Gas's alcohol license after a clerk sold a 12-pack to a 17-year-old without checking ID. The board then voted unanimously to spread the three-day penalty across October 5, 12 and 19 rather than consecutive days, with Selectman Sullivan warning against softening the town's violation matrix: "You did it for him at Patriot Gas, why can't you do it for me?" Selectman Johnson said the store's own ID-check safeguards simply were not used. Separately, the board accepted Town Accountant Sara Mongo's resignation effective October 1 and named Eric Kinsherf, CPA, LLC interim accountant through mid-2027 at no added cost.
Selectmen also opened the warrant for October's special town meeting and urged residents to vote in the September 29 special election on a revised override, after voters rejected an earlier version in June.
