Other Committee · Meeting of June 30, 2026
Dudley study panel finalizes nine recommendations, including converting elected posts to appointed. The Government Study Committee voted unanimously to adopt its final report to the Board of Selectmen, set for presentation July 13, proposing the treasurer-collector and town clerk positions move from elected to appointed offices. The town's treasurer-collector objected during public comment, saying "I'm the single person being targeted on this" and calling the move "clearly a vendetta." The committee also backed consolidating the water, sewer and highway departments into a Department of Public Works, forming a charter committee, expediting the Harper Payroll System, and prioritizing formal financial policies flagged in a state Department of Revenue report.
Members unanimously added language requiring the town to publish budget-development timelines online, on a motion from committee member Rich.
