Other Committee · Meeting of October 26, 2026
DUDLEY — The Dudley Recreation Commission delayed a vote on reorganizing its leadership roles and detailed tight finances while planning Halloween, tree lighting and Santa Parade events. Members reported roughly $276 on hand before spending about $100 on Spooktacular supplies, and said the commission has no dedicated town budget, relying instead on grants and about $200 a year from yard sale permit fees. The chair said applications submitted to the Dudley Cultural Council for 2027 Spooktacular and AgriFest funding should be decided by January.
One member said, "if we can't do all these extra fun things, like if we can't fund hot dogs, like it's the end of the world," framing scaled-back prizes as preferable to canceling events. The planned reorganization of chair, vice chair, clerk and event-committee roles was pushed to the November 16 meeting.
