Dudley Recreation Approves Bike Rodeo, Yard Sale Plans
Parks and Recreation · Meeting of June 10, 2026
Dudley Recreation Commission preps three summer events on zero budget. The panel finalized a June 17 playground ribbon-cutting, a townwide yard sale with 53 registered sellers, up from about 40 last year, and a June 25 bike safety rodeo, all funded through $3 map sales rather than a town appropriation. Member Alicia asked pointedly, "What's our total budget for the year?" and was told the answer is currently zero, with two grant applications still pending.
A member warned there's "a good chance that we will not be moving forward with, like, the Halloween and the Christmas events" without new funding. Construction has eliminated much of the usual parking near Town Hall, forcing the bike rodeo into a smaller footprint near the playground, and the fire department will skip the event this year for lack of space. The commission also flagged one open seat to be filled at its August 10 reorganization meeting.
