Dudley Historic Commission Approves Garage Demolition

Historic Commission · Meeting of July 7, 2026

Dudley Historic Commission clears garage demolition, sets sights on town's 300th anniversary. Members voted unanimously to approve a Dudley Hill-area homeowner's request to tear down an aging garage, notifying the Building Department to release the permit. Most of the meeting recapped a recent Dudley Hill commemorative ceremony featuring veterans, bell ringing and tavern tours, with members crediting Jane Wojciechowski for baking the event's cake and vowing to fix a timing gap between the ceremony's salute and its bells: "That would have been the one thing that could have gone nicer." With the anniversary six years off, members discussed coordinating bells across Dudley Hill churches and Nichols College, after only one bell rang in sync this time, and floated drone photography of the town's historic burying grounds for an in-progress commission book.
