Council on Aging weighs filling vacant seat

Council on Aging · Meeting of April 21, 2026

Dudley Council on Aging discusses filling a vacant seat on its seven-member board. Member Carmella D'Ambra asked how openings get advertised; Director Deborah Johnson said she wasn't sure of the process, noting replacements, including recent appointee Evelyn Grovesteen, have typically come forward on their own. The board, meeting for the first time since October, approved its prior minutes and heard that 22 Bay Path cosmetology students gave seniors manicures and hand massages this month, which members called "very, very, very nice." Johnson said senior center events are now capped at 45 people, with a waiting list that has successfully placed everyone who wanted in.

A Mother's Day brunch is planned for May, and a June memory cafe will feature performer Donna Lee's Connie Francis tribute, funded by the Dudley Cultural Council. Brown bag lunches are suspended until fall.
