The Town of Dudley announced that it held its first Poetry Slam on Thursday, Oct. 15, in the wooded area of the Fun Zone Playground.
The event was sponsored by the Pearle L. Crawford Memorial Library and the Dudley Recreation Commission. Children and adults gathered to share original poetry, spoken-word pieces and creative writing in what the town described as a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Participants took turns sharing their work surrounded by autumn foliage, while family members, friends and neighbors offered encouragement and applause.
The gathering also showcased the newly constructed outdoor stage area at the Fun Zone Playground, which provided the setting for the readings.
